2013-2014 Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to Samantha Solis and Gatlin Magee, our 2013-2014 Texas Burn Survivor Society Scholarship recipients. This is Samantha’s first year as a recipient, but her association with TBSS goes back several years as a Camp David camper. She will be in her third year at Houston Baptist University, pursuing a degree in economics. After graduation, she plans to attend law school.
Gatlin is a three-time scholarship recipient and is studying wildlife management at South Texas Junior College in Uvalde. He is an excellent example of not letting obstacles stand in the way of a dream. After losing his index finger in a fire cracker explosion, Gatlin had to retrain himself to shoot – a requirement for him to become a Texas Game Warden. It wasn’t easy, but he was successful. He also wants to obtain a helicopter pilot’s license, which will enhance his job performance as a warden. We are proud to have these two outstanding young adults represent TBSS.
