Mayan Wounded Warrior Family Retreat 2013

Mayan Retreat 2 103Almost 80 Wounded Warriors and family members attended the 2013 Wounded Warrior Family Mother’s Day Retreat.  This was our sixth retreat at the Mayan Ranch in Bandera, Texas, and each year we renew old friendships and make new ones.  The goal of this retreat is to provide these deserving families with a relaxing weekend of family time.  We also love providing a little extra care and attention to the mothers and spouses.  Chaplain Stan Smith told us, “…The bottom line is that events like you sponsored this weekend help strengthen the health and vitality of families who face very traumatic situations.”  Another attendee observed, “As I watched my children and other children around me having so much fun and not having a care in the world – that is how life for them should be. Many of their parents have had and are going through so many issues and to be able for them to just put them aside for a weekend is …truly wonderful. I saw laughter, and I saw happiness from everyone there, and it’s because of the Texas Burn Survivor Society and what they do was the reason for such a wonderful day.”
